Mr. Jacobsen serves as General Counsel (Investments).
He has extensive business and legal experience as principal and advisor on behalf of owners, investors, lenders and developers across the US in acquisitions, joint venture relationships, financing, development, asset management and disposition of commercial real estate assets.
Prior to joining Penzance, Mr. Jacobsen was a Managing Director at Artemis Real Estate Partners in Washington, DC, where he served as legal counsel responsible for supporting the firm’s acquisition and asset management activities across all property types, including both equity and debt positions. He also managed the firm’s nationwide real estate insurance program. Before that, Mr. Jacobsen practiced in the real estate and finance group at the Washington, DC office of Arnold & Porter He began his real estate career as an acquisitions associate with Walton Street Capital in Chicago, IL.
Mr. Jacobsen received his BS in Hotel Administration (with a concentration in Real Estate Development & Finance) from Cornell University, his MA in International Economics from Johns Hopkins University, and his JD from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. He is a fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL) and lectures at American University, Washington College of Law in addition to other law schools and universities across the country.
